Canvas Study Helper — install on a school Chromebook

No extension approval needed. This installs the study helper as a bookmark — schools can't block bookmarks.

1. Add the bookmarklet

Drag the button below to your bookmarks bar (or right-click → Copy link, then paste it into a new bookmark's URL).

If dragging is blocked, create a bookmark manually: right-click the bookmarks bar → Add page → name it Study Helper → paste the copied code into the URL field.

2. Use it on a quiz

  1. Open the quiz in Canvas.
  2. Click the Study Helper bookmark.
  3. The study buttons appear next to each question — Scan, Study all, Answer all.
  4. First time: click the ⚙ gear (below the eye button) and paste a free API key — Groq (console.groq.com) is the fastest and handles images too; Gemini (aistudio.google.com) also works.

3. Or use the companion app

No bookmarklet needed — open the companion app, then install it: Chrome menu → Install page as app… (or the ⭳ icon in the address bar). Paste questions there to get explanations.

Good to know

⚠️ Check your school's acceptable-use policy first. Installing a study helper as a bookmark bypasses the extension block list, and some schools treat that as a violation. The study helper is designed for practice work you have permission to study with — using it on graded assessments may be considered academic dishonesty.
